There’s no denying that this is a classic boy sees cute boy at bar story, but everything past that is truly a romance for the books. Evan left New York City to pursue his passion of studying City Planning in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Being a one year grad program, he was there to study, explore, and soak up the culture. Little did Evan (or Kyle) expect to meet the love of their lives in a city bustling with conflict and passionate students…(see end of post for the rest of their story!)
Growing up in England, Kyle was (and still is) studying at Queens University in Belfast for his medical degree – get this ladies: he is going to be the #1 OBGYN there ever was! Doctor meets city planner, activist meets activist, boy meets boy, and it was love.
I have been so fortunate to watch this beautiful relationship grow into something so strong and passionate. Kyle and Evan spend chunks of time in the UK, spending holidays with Kyle’s family, or in New York City where I get to shower them with love and Kyle cooks me AMAZING vegetarian dishes (I might consider going back to that life style if he moves here).
I was squirming all of winter holiday, waiting for Evan to propose to Kyle. Picture this: a stunning day after Christmas (Christmas proposal plans were foiled), morning hike on the English countryside to watch the sun rise. (Kyle spills coffee…) Evan and Kyle snuggled up enjoying what remained of the coffee, each other’s company and the peace and calm (maybe not for Evan) that the world offered that morning. Oops! There is the (fake) glove drop, so that Evan could kneel on it, and proposal! CAN YOU NOT LOVE THIS?! At the top of the hike, Evan asked the love of his life to marry him; boy, were there celebrations to have when they got back from their hike!
